So when will the service shut down? According to emails that Apple has been sending out, it turns out that the 30th of November will be the date that Beats Music will be closing its doors. According to the email, “Beats Music ends on November 30. Your subscription will be cancelled, but you can move your picks and preferences over to Apple Music right now.”
Unsurprisingly Apple is encouraging customers to move over to Apple Music and are promoting the fact that the service will offer users 3 months of free listening until they have to subscribe. Beats Music had stopped accepting signups since June earlier this year, so we guess it was only a matter of time before the service was officially shuttered.
Beats Music never managed to gain the same amount of traction compared to the likes of Spotify or Apple Music. So far Apple Music has been considered somewhat of a success. According to the numbers, Apple’s music streaming platform is boasting 6.5 million paid subscribers. This is nowhere near Spotify who is leading the way, but for a service that’s less than a year old, it’s not too shabby either.
