AT&T Galaxy S5 Active Gets Android 5.1.1 Update

Android 5.1.1 is the last major iteration of Google’s mobile platform prior to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and while OEMs and carriers take their sweet time in putting together this update, at least one device on the nation’s second largest carrier is making the jump from Android 5.0 to Android 5.1.1. AT&T is now rolling out Android 5.1.1 for the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active.

AT&T has long been Samsung’s carrier of choice to launch the Active variants of its flagship smartphone, they’re more or less the same as the regular variants, aside from the fact that the Active variants are dust and water resistant, they can also take a solid hit and shrug it off like nothing happened.

Starting today Galaxy S5 Active owners can jump to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop on their devices, they have been on Android 5.0 for some time now, build number MY47X.G870AUCU2COJ3 brings them up to the latest version of Lollipop.

The update weighs in at 640MB which means you’re definitely going to need a Wi-Fi connection in order to download it. It brings several important bug fixes for the handset and adds Android for Work, the update also applies a fix to Ultra Power Saving mode for devices that are using On Device Encryption.

AT&T is rolling out Android 5.1.1 for Galaxy S5 Active right now, it should go live for everybody in a few hours.
