amazon echo

It has been over a year since Amazon unveiled Echo, at first glance it might look like a normal Bluetooth speaker, but there’s actually a very capable personal assistant called Alexa living inside. At first it was sold in limited quantities before Amazon opened up sales for everybody but it has only ever been available to purchase from Amazon itself. The company has confirmed that now it will also be available to purchase from other retailers across the country.

Echo can now do much more than it originally could, over the past few months Amazon has gradually added more features to this device via software updates, and it works remarkably well for a first-generation product.

The Amazon Echo will be available at over 3,000 retail locations across the country very soon, retailers which will have the device in stock include Sears, Brookstone, The Home Depot, RadioShack, Fred Meyer and P.C. Richard & Son. It’s interesting to see that Best Buy isn’t on this list.

The device will be available for $179.99 from these retailers, that’s precisely the same price that Amazon charges, so unless the retailers decide to mark it down don’t expect much in the way of price savings. While it hasn’t provided a confirmed date when the device will be available from these retailers, Amazon does say that the Echo will be available in time for the lucrative holiday shopping season.
