Yesterday we reported that Amazon would be launching its first ever physical bookstore. For those who are hearing about it for the first time, basically this is a bookstore that you can visit and make book purchases if you are living or visiting Seattle. That being said, the bookstore has since opened its doors and a report from GeekWire has revealed that it has garnered plenty of interest.
As you can see in the image above, there seems to be quite a queue outside the Amazon bookstore. In a way it is interesting especially when you consider that one of the key features of Amazon is that you can order pretty much anything you want from the comfort of your own home.
However it is possible that at the end of the day, the more traditional means of buying books at physical stores is just more comforting for many. The store will feature books that are highly rated and reviewed, and will also feature customer reviews so that shoppers have an idea of what they’re buying.
The bookstore will also play home to Amazon’s products like Kindle e-readers, the Fire TV, and the Fire Android tablets. According to Molly Fallen who was one of the first shoppers in line, “This is the first Amazon Books ever. That’s really exciting. I love going to bookstores and holding them and smelling them. It’s so much fun. But you can’t really do that anymore without going some great distance.”
