Withings today announced the launch of its new activity tracker called the Activité Steel, it’s positioned right between the Activité and Activité Pop wearable devices and has been priced as such. It does however tout a very stylish design which Withings says makes it retain the “most wearable, wearable title with a confident masculine design.”
The company says that its latest product brings together the high-end luxury feel of the original Swiss Made Activité and combines it with the “fun, versatility and value price point of the Activité Pop.
Like other activity trackers from Withings this one also doesn’t look much like a conventional smart wearable device at first glance, you can be forgiven to mistake it for a simple watch, yet underneath that traditional look lives technology that enables you to access various activity tracking features via the companion application. It’s not a proper smartwatch though so don’t expect to run apps on this wearable device to shoot off emails from the comfort of your wrist. It can’t do any of that.
The Activité Steel has two hand dials which show the time and a sub-dial which shows the percentage of daily goal achieved. Goals can be set within the app. It can automatically detect activities like running and swimming and also monitor sleep when worn at night. Underneath there’s a standard watch battery that’s good for 8 months so there’s no need to regularly charge this device that’s water-resistant up to 50 meters.
With its stainless steel case and silicone straps the Activité Steel is exclusively available from withings.com for $169.95.
