Activision Blizzard has a lot of pretty big franchises under their belt. They have Call of Duty, Destiny, Warcraft, Diablo, StarCraft, and more. Now if you ever thought that wouldn’t it be cool if any of these games were adapted into a movie or TV show, you might be pleased to learn that Activision Blizzard has announced their own film and TV studio.
Now it might be a while before we actually see a TV series or film based on Call of Duty or Destiny, but in the meantime for those who have heard of Skylanders, it seems that the studio’s first project will be based on that. The studio will be producing an animated TV series based on the game.
According to Activision Blizzard, “Currently in production under the supervision of showrunner Eric Rogers (“Futurama”), “Skylanders Academy” will feature the voices of Justin Long (“Alvin and the Chipmunks,” “Ask Me Anything”) as Spyro, Ashley Tisdale (“Phineas and Ferb,” “High School Musical”) as Stealth Elf, Jonathan Banks (“Breaking Bad,” “Better Call Saul”) as Eruptor and Norm Macdonald (“Saturday Night Live”) as Glumshanks. Additional voice talent includes Harland Williams and Richard Horvitz.”
The studio also envisions a future in which they could create a feature film or TV show based on Call of Duty, but that will be later. However for the more immediate future, you can expect to see a Skylanders series, so if you have played the game and enjoyed it, that could be worth looking forward to in the future.
