In terms of current-gen consoles, Nintendo has the Wii U, Microsoft has the Xbox One, and Sony has the PlayStation 4. However in terms of which console is winning, it seems like Sony is the clear winner because according to Sony, they have announced that they have managed to sell a whopping 30.2 million PS4 units to date.
So how does that make Sony the winner? Microsoft has not officially announced sales figures, but estimates have pegged Xbox One sales at around 15.6 million units, and last we heard, the Wii U had managed to sell 10 million units so far. Sony even claims that the PS4 shows the fastest and strongest growth as far as PlayStation consoles are concerned, which is pretty impressive considering the success of consoles like the PS2 and PS3.
According to Andrew House, president and global CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment, Sony’s game division, “We are sincerely grateful that gamers across the globe have continued to choose PS4 as the best place to play since launch two years ago. We are committed to bringing engaging games and entertainment services to users worldwide. Thanks to the support of our partners, PS4 continues to be the premier platform for game and interactive entertainment innovation.”
