As it stands, BioShock is now in the hands of 2K Games and according to a report by GameSpot, Take-Two’s CEO (2K Games’ parent company) Strass Zelnick spoke at the MKM Partners Investor Day Conference in New York, in which Zelnick told investors that BioShock would remain a permanent franchise for 2K Games.
According to Zelnick, “The franchise is in the hands of 2K. They’ll make announcements in due time about any upcoming releases. But BioShock is unquestionably a permanent franchise for our company and one that we do believe in.” No doubt this is reassuring news for fans of the franchise, but at the same time there has not been any news regarding future titles, although last we heard there were apparently plans to release a BioShock Collection for the current-gen consoles.
In the meantime for those wondering about Irrational Games’ Ken Levine’s plans for the future, Zelnick revealed that they were working together on a mysterious sci-fi project. “I’m not going to steal Ken’s thunder, but we’re thrilled to be in business with Ken. What I can say is you would expect that Ken would work on something highly creative and innovative. I think that would be a reasonable expectation for whatever he does next.”
