However if you’re worried about the security of your iOS device, you can rest easy as far as YiSpecter is concerned. In a statement issued by Apple, the Cupertino company claims that YiSpecter was actually addressed back in iOS 8.4 and if you have updated to iOS 8.4 or later, you should be fine.
However they note, “This issue only impacts users on older versions of iOS who have also downloaded malware from untrusted sources.” They also go on to state that they have blocked the apps that were the ones distributing said malware. So if you have an older version of iOS and have not updated for whatever reason, you should probably go ahead and do so.
In the meantime for those who are unfamiliar with the malware, basically it has the ability to download and install apps of its own volition, along with displaying full screen ads when launching apps, which safe to say can be annoying. The fact that it can target both jailbroken and non-jailbroken devices makes it a bit scary.
