If the rumored specs of the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 5 are to be believed, there are many reasons to be excited for it. Recently the company had posted a teaser image on Weibo in which they announced an event for the 19th of October, which is next Monday. Many had speculated that this is when the phone would be announced, but sadly that is not happening.
Xiaomi’s co-founder Lin Bin has since come forward and refuted the speculation and rumors that the Mi 5 will be announced next Monday. He also denied that the announcement will have anything to do with the Mi Note 2 either. He went to clear all doubts by stating that the announcement won’t have anything to do with smartphones, laptops, and flat panel televisions.
We’re not sure what this leaves us with, virtual reality, perhaps? Some speculate that the announcement could possibly be video game related, especially since the company’s other co-founder Lei Jun did make some comments about video games recently, so perhaps that was a hint of what’s to come.
Either way we guess we will just have to wait until next Monday for all the official details. In the meantime this also means that the official announcement of the Xiaomi Mi 5 and the Mi Note 2 is still pretty much up in the air.
