Redstone Could Be Next Windows Update

Windows 10 has certainly seen a very impressive take up rate so far, where earlier last week, we did report that it ran on more than 10 million devices already, which is no mean feat. Still, there is a long way to go before Windows 10 becomes the ruling operating system among all Windows-based devices, and this does not mean that the folks over at Microsoft will be resting on their laurels without having anything else to do. No sir, in fact, they do look as though they are working pretty hard to ensure that there is a new update for Windows 10 that will make the entire experience sweeter, calling it Redstone for the moment.

Very little is known about Redstone at this point in time, although earlier on in April, we figured out that the upcoming update has already entered the planning phase. Redstone will not be a total revamp of the Windows 10 platform, but users can expect to enjoy new features as well as functionality. Apparently, programmers have already kicked off the process of transforming ideas that are on paper to coding, so it remain to be seen just what kind of features can we see so early on in the development.

Chances are it will arrive some time next year, and in two waves, no less. For the impatient, it is nice to know that you do not have to wait that long for selected Windows 10 features to be made available, as there is a new and smaller update that is tipped to roll out before 2015 is over. This particular update has been given the codename “Threshold 2”, where it is tipped to feature a new Messaging app, and browser extension support for Edge.
