With the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, Apple introduced 3D Touch which is basically the equivalent of Force Touch for the iPhone. It provides a new way for users to interact with their device as well as apps. For example it was only recently the Facebook for iOS was updated to include 3D Touch support, and now it looks like WhatsApp (also owned by Facebook) is following suit.
According to the latest update pushed out by WhatsApp, “Support for 3D Touch on iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. You can now quickly Peek and Pop pictures, videos, links, contact cards, and locations you send and receive in chats.” For those who are unfamiliar with the feature, Peek and Pop are basically quick and easy ways for you to preview and call up messages/pictures/videos/etc just by pressing on the screen.
This allows users to keep doing what they are doing, while still being able to get an idea of what’s going on. This is versus older versions of iOS and iPhones where users would have to stop what they are doing, swap out to the other app to see what’s going on, and then having to switch back which in some cases can interrupt the workflow.
Apart from the update with the support for 3D Touch, the update will also bring about the usual host of bug fixes and has also been mirrored and optimized for languages that read right-to-left. The update can be found on the iTunes App Store so head on over for the details.
