Earlier today an image that was posted online by Vivo seemed to hint at the company’s upcoming flagship phone’s design. Now thanks to newly leaked images, we are looking at the alleged photos of the Vivo Xplay 5S. However based on the photos that we are looking at, it seems that the ones posted by Vivo are of a different device.
That being said, what about the Xplay 5S? We’ve heard about the handset earlier this year where it was rumored that it would feature a Snapdragon 805 chipset with a 6-inch QHD display. Now according to the rumors, the handset will be undergoing an upgrade where it will launch with a 4K display and a Snapdragon 820 chipset.
What this means is that with the Snapdragon 820 being pegged for a release next year, the Vivo Xplay 5S will also most likely be released in 2016, so don’t hold your breath just yet. Its 4K display also makes it the second Android smartphone to feature such a display, with the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium being the first.
Other rumored specs include 4GB of RAM, 64GB of onboard storage, a 21MP rear-facing camera, and 12MP front-facing camera. Take it all with a grain of salt for now, but if it is released in 2016 then chances are we still have a bit of waiting left to do.
