Back in June this year Sony unveiled a new smartphone called Xperia Z4v, it was supposed to be a Verizon exclusive with flagship level specifications. Xperia Z4v featured a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor with a Quad HD display. Even though it has been over four months since the handset was announced it still hasn’t arrived on Verizon and turns out it never will. Verizon has confirmed today that it won’t be carrying the Sony Xperia Z4v.
It was speculated recently that the handset might bite the dust even before it launched on Verizon given that Sony Mobile quietly deleted a page for this handset off of its website, previously the page was live and listed the handset as “coming soon.”
In an update posted on its official website Verizon writes that it will no longer be launching the Xperia Z4v, but reiterates its support to Sony’s product portfolio as well as its existing products available on the country’s largest mobile carrier.
Verizon also says that it considers Sony as a “strategic partner,” and that both companies will continue to have discussions together as part of their future portfolio.
It’s really not that surprising that Verizon has decided against carrying Xperia Z4v at this point in time particularly when the company has already started selling Xperia Z5 in some markets across the globe.
