Last month Ultimate Ears launched the Boom 2 Bluetooth speakers. Basically these speakers are an upgrade over the original Boom speakers, except that according to the company, they have decided to make it louder. Now if you want to put those louder speakers to the test, you might be interested in an upcoming feature.
The company has recently announced a new feature that will be making its way to the Boom 2 in the form of Block Party. Basically what this does is that it allows up to three friends to connect to the same UE speaker, and from there users will be able to choose from each other’s playlists and songs.
It can even be pulled from the likes of Apple Music and Spotify, with the designated DJ choosing what songs to play and jumping from playlist to playlist. According to UE, it seems that this is a feature that they have considered a while ago, but it was only recently that they managed to get the software running properly.
Speaking to Cult of Mac, UE’s SVP Rory Dooley was quoted as saying, “If it’s not going to be fluid and fast, there was no point.” Block Party will be making its way via an update to UE’s app and will play nicely with not just the Boom 2, but the UE Roll and the UE Megaboom. Unfortunately the original UE Boom will be left out of the party for now.
