It has been a while since we have heard from Respawn with regards to what’s in store for gamers as far as the Titanfall franchise is concerned. For those worried that the game has fallen off the face of the planet, fret not because the folks at Respawn have announced their plans for Titanfall’s future, and that future involves mobile.
The company has announced that they will be teaming up with Nexon to create a mobile version of Titanfall. However this won’t be an exact copy of the game, but rather it will be a game (or a series of games) that is based on the Titanfall franchise. We’re not sure what exactly that would entail, but these titles are only expected to be released in 2016.
According to Vince Zampella who co-founded Respawn, “It’s about being able to extend our universe into an area that we at Respawn aren’t expert in. When we built this universe, we realized how extensible it was … and we want to get it out in front of as many people as possible.”
Zampella goes on to add, “I think we have some interesting ideas, but I don’t know that we can talk about any of them yet. It’s another piece of the universe, a peek behind the curtain that is hinted at or assumed in the universe that you might take for granted, things that wouldn’t necessarily be revealed in the main game.”
In any case it looks like gamers will still have a bit of waiting to do, but if you’re a fan of Titanfall and want to see it expand beyond just being an FPS, then these mobile titles could be worth looking forward to.
