That being said with the feature sort of toeing the line between cruise control and self-driving that there might be places that one cannot use the feature. However according to a recent series of tweets by Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk (via Engadget), it looks like the feature has managed to gain international approval.
According to Musk, “Regulatory approvals received, so Autopilot rolling out to all countries! (Excluding Japan, which is still under review)”. Musk also went on to state that an additional update would be coming soon to help improve upon the feature. “Autopilot 1.01 coming soon: curve speed adaption, controller smoothness, better lane holding on poor roads, improved fleet learning!”
In the meantime, the Autosteer feature is still in beta. This is why Tesla has asked drivers to ensure that their hands on the steering wheel at all times, even if the car is doing the navigating. As we have seen in a recent video, taking your hands off could result in a potentially fatal accident.
