TalkTalk Telecom Plc in the UK has undergone some rather trying times in recent memory, especially when you take into consideration that the British Internet provider has been attacked. Thankfully, UK authorities have stepped forward to inform the masses that they have arrested a 15-year-old boy in Northern Ireland who is suspected to be involved in the attack on TalkTalk Telecom Plc.
The teenager has already been taken into custody earlier today based on “suspicion of Computer Misuse Act offenses,” according to the Metropolitan Police in their statement. Just a wee bit of background information here just in case you were wondering what TalkTalk does – they happen to provide relatively affordable broadband packages to the masses, and in the last week, the company was hit by a “significant and sustained” attack on its website.
As if that was not bad enough, TalkTalk then received a ransom demand from attackers, who threatened to release customer data to the public if payment was not made. TalkTalk did suspect that some banking information could have been stolen, and in their statement, they shared, “We know this has been a worrying time for customers and we are grateful for the swift response and hard work of the police.”
