SVIP Teams Up With Girls In Tech, Offers Paid Internships To Female Engineers

In the recent years we have started to see a slow but gradual shift towards balancing the gender inequality in the tech industry. In fact things have progressed pretty well to the point where more women are starting to feel more welcome in the tech scene, leading to Computer Science at Stanford being the most popular major amongst women at the university.

So much so that recently, the Silicon Valley Internship Programme (SVIP) has announced a partnership with Girls In Tech. With this partnership, what happens is that there will now be an increase in opportunities for female engineers to land year-long internships, and best of all, these internships will be paid!

The internships for the most part will be pretty standard. This will include learning entrepreneurial skills, providing mentorship programs, along with meet and greets as well as being able to attend various hackathon events. Ultimately the goal is to provide interns with the right amount of skills and knowledge which they can then go ahead and apply to the industry upon completion.

According to Adriana Gascoigne, CEO and Founder of Girls in Tech, “By offering unique engineering opportunities for recent female grads, we are helping to continue their interest in the field and inspire career longevity. Through the SVIP and Girls in Tech partnership, more female engineers from around the world will be motivated to exploit their programming and entrepreneurial aspirations.”
