Update: Here’s the statement from Microsoft.
As we are processing and shipping the previously placed Surface Book pre-orders, some needed to have order details re-entered to properly process the transaction. We will be contacting impacted customers, and should they wish to keep their order, it will be shipped within a few days of being re-entered.
Microsoft certainly ushered in their very own interpretation of what a powerful tablet hybrid device should be like with the Surface Book’s release, and it seems that all configurations of the Surface Book has already sold out – which is a good sign that bodes well for the Redmond company, right? Not really, as delivery is said to take an eternity, but even with the relatively high price point for the top end Surface Book model, pre-order figures have been encouraging. It looks like a spanner has been thrown into the works now, with reports appearing from various sources that tout how select pre-orders for Microsoft’s Surface Book through the Microsoft Store are being canceled.
So far, some users have made use of the Surface subreddit to mention that Microsoft has already canceled their orders for the Surface Book, and a number of credit card services are restricting payments to Microsoft – attributing this move to that of a “potential fraud alert”. It seems that users have been given a number of chances to correct or update their payment methods, but when a certain number of attempts has passed and the problem has yet to be resolved, then the order would enter its cancellation mode. Right now, Microsoft claims that the only way to gain a Surface Book for yourself after this point would be to place a new order – and end up with a delayed ship date that has been listed as late November. This has no doubt disappointed a fair number of Surface Book buyers, no doubt about it!
