Steve Jobs Movie Flops At The Box Office

Ever since the official biography of Steve Jobs came out a couple of years ago it was said that a movie based on that account will be released at some point in the future. Back in 2013 another Steve Jobs movie was released, titled Jobs it starred Ashton Kutcher as the late Apple co-founder and CEO, but it opened to $6.7 million and flopped at the box office. The highly anticipated Steve Jobs movie from Universal appears to have met the same fate.

Those who didn’t quite like Jobs had high hopes for the second one, initially Sony was making the film but it unloaded the project to Universal. The script comes from Aaron Sorkin, a man who needs no introduction, with Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle at the helm of a star studded cast which includes Michael Fassbender, Seth Rogen and Kate Winslet.

All that star power doesn’t seem to have done much for the movie’s fortunes though, it opened to just $7.2 million at the box office, with many now calling the new movie a flop. Despite that, the movie titled Steve Jobs has received some very good reviews, but from the looks of it the larger public isn’t really that interested in spending their time watching yet another movie about Steve Jobs.

This was the last movie in the pipeline about the late Apple CEO and there are no reports so far that Hollywood will once again try to get something out of the personality cult that surrounded Steve Jobs.
