It only took a few months for Microsoft to cut the price of Xbox One to better compete against PlayStation 4 after both consoles were released in November 2013, however Sony didn’t feel the need to cut PS4 price for a long time. A few weeks back the price cut was confirmed for Japan and only recently Sony confirmed it for the United States as well. A new report suggests that a similar cut might also be on the table on Europe and that it might be announced as soon as this week.
It’s expected that PS4 price in Europe will be cut to €349, no official announcement has been made by Sony yet but it’s likely that the company might talk about it at the Paris Games Week which starts off on October 28th. There’s always the possibility that Sony could make the announcement prior to the event.
Once this price cut is official in Europe it’s likely that Sony will go down the same road in PAL territories such as Australia and New Zealand, the company can be expected to offer discounts similar to the one it’s offering in Japan and North America.
With the holiday season just around the corner a price cut on the PlayStation 4 may end up helping Sony sell more units during this lucrative shopping season, ultimately helping it extend its lead over the Xbox One in the global console market.
