It wasn’t too long ago that Snapchat introduced some filters to its video feature. Basically you could make rainbows stream out of your mouth, or turn your face into a monster. They are pretty cool and fun and helps to shake things up a bit. That being said, it looks like Skype wants in on the fun as well.
The company has recently announced that they will be introducing filters to its video message feature. For those unfamiliar, video messages is a feature that allows users to send offline videos to each other, kind of like leaving a voicemail except that you are sending it in video format, and with filters, Skype wants you guys to have a little fun.
According to Skype, “Skype is always looking for new ways to help you express yourself – we’ve recently launched new features such as Mojis, Skype Translator and our fantastic new range of emoticons, so you can express exactly how you feel. Today, we’re excited to launch video message filters in Skype for Android, iPhone and iPad – video effects that let you add more fun to your Skype video messages.”
As it stands, the filters are only available on the mobile version of Skype. This means that if you have Skype on your Android phone, iPad, or iPhone, you should be able to access it tapping the filter wand at the bottom left of the video message window. If you haven’t updated your app, you should probably go ahead and do so.
