A couple of months back Samsung revealed that it was developing a new tablet called the Galaxy View, this tablet is rather unique and it’s the first of its kind that Samsung has ever made. Galaxy View has a truly massive 18.4 inch display and the company is aiming it at people who just want a tablet to watch content stored on the device itself or through streaming services. After weeks of rumors and reports about this device Samsung today officially announced the Galaxy View.
The Galaxy View isn’t a flagship tablet by any means, it only has a 1.6GHz octacore processor hooked up with 2GB RAM and offers onboard storage in 32GB and 64GB flavors.
It is however quite well suited for watching movies and TV shows, the massive 18.4 inch full HD display is hard to miss and with high quality stereo speakers (4W x 2), you might find yourself binging on your favorite show using the Galaxy View.
It’s a proper Android tablet nonetheless which runs Android 5.1 Lollipop, but don’t expect to get much performance out of it. Galaxy View will perform well enough for mundane tasks like checking emails or browsing the internet, if it’s processing power that you want better look elsewhere.
If you want a tablet just for streaming your favorite shows then this is something you should consider. It’s user interface has been designed with this express purpose in mind, with one home screen entirely dedicated to all of the services that will provide content on this device, services such as Netflix, Hulu, etc.
Despite the fact that this tablet has been officially announced today Samsung has not yet confirmed how much the Galaxy View will cost and when it will be available for purchase.
