Runaway JLENS Blimp Causes Power Outages

A rather huge US surveillance blimp broke free from its mooring earlier today, and that runaway blimp known as the JLENS is the main reason for power outages as it made its way across the east section of the country, bringing along with it a 6,700-foot cable before crashing down to earth due to the law of gravity. In fact, when it broke free from its mooring, a pair of US F-16s fighter jets were scrambled in order to go after the JLENS blimp which was getting by at an altitude of approximately 16,000 feet.

The final resting place for this runaway blimp was in Montour County in Pennsylvania, at around 4:00 pm (2000 GMT), where a military recovery team was on their way in order to pick up whatever pieces that are left behind. Authorities issued warnings to people to stay away from the blimp as power outages proved to be all too common in the town of Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania.

Apparently, the cable hooked up to the helium-filled blimp started to get in the way of power lines, and due to the massive size of it, dragged these power lines along, resulting in blackouts all over Bloomsburg. Just in case you would like to know a wee bit more about the JLENS blimp, it managed to blast a cruise missile successfully in a test three years back.
