Towards the end of October and in the month of November, it seems that there will be several major game releases. For example Halo 5 is out today, and next week gamers can expect to get their hands on Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, and later towards the middle of November, gamers can also look forward to Star Wars Battlefront.
This means that there isn’t much time in between for publishers to capitalize on if they want to release games in time for the holiday. In fact on the 10th of November, Bethesda’s highly-anticipated Fallout 4 will be released, which is also the same time that the Xbox exclusive Rise of the Tomb Raider will released.
With two major games being released on the same day, which will prevail? While the numbers have yet to be released, Microsoft is confident that the Rise of the Tomb Raider title will be able to stand up to the likes of Fallout 4. This was revealed by Microsoft’s Aaron Greenberg in an interview with Kinda Funny Games (see video above).
According to Greenberg, “We felt like the Fallout audience and game, while both fantastic games, they’re not direct competitors per se. But it’s two big, big titles launching at the same time and we hope people will buy both.” However Greenberg also brought up a good point about whether consumers will have enough money, or if they have budgeted enough to buy more than one game, especially with several titles being released ahead of Tomb Raider, and titles that will be released after.
Either way we guess we’ll just have to wait and see, but in the meantime how do you guys think Rise of the Tomb Raider will fare, especially with the game being released in such close proximity to equally large titles?
