Securing a border or perimeter can be quite a challenging task, especially when you have a limited number of personnel, which brings to mind having help in the form of the Samsung SG-AR1 robot sentry. Well, automatic turrets aren’t too bad an idea after all, where remotely-controlled weapons systems have shown to drastically reduce the number of soldiers required when it comes to perimeter security.
In other words, such new remote control weapons systems might see unmanned, weaponized towers which are located at the edge of razor wires, allowing just a couple of soldiers within the base camp’s tactical operation center to get the job of 10 soldiers done. This will not only reduce the amount of cost in the long run, but also reduce the number of injuries or the risk of death to combatants who are busy securing the perimeter of a base camp.
Such systems will comprise of expeditionary towers that are mounted, and these will be called containerized weapons systems. An expeditionary tower can be set up by half a dozen soldiers in under an hour, and they do not need specialized training. One can also opt to mount just about any gun system, although the Browning M-2 50-caliber machine gun and a 338 Lapua sniper rifle would prove to be decent deterrents, and these weapons can be raised, lowered, rotated by 360-degrees and fired remotely. Just like a video game! [Press Release]
