That being said, it looks like the company could be getting ready for a US launch, or at least showing greater interest in it. It has been reported that the Xiaomi Redmi 2 has been spotted at the FCC, which many of you guys know that it means that the handset is getting the necessary approval before it is sold in the US.
However the thing is devices could be approved but not necessarily sold. It could be that OEMs are simply trying to cover all their bases should they decide to launch the phone in the US, so we suggest you not get your hopes up just yet. In the meantime Xiaomi had recently reiterated their commitment to come to the US market.
Unfortunately there is no word on when that will be happening. Xiaomi exec (and former Googler) Hugo Barra also confirmed the company’s plans, but stated that it might be a while before Xiaomi’s phones are officially sold stateside.
