[CEATEC 2015] Going shopping can be fun – especially when you have plenty of cash to spare, as you need not have to think too much – or even twice about picking up a particular item that you would like. What about making sure that the shopping experience is augmented with the help of the digital world? Rakuten has done just that with their WallSHOP – while it is not new, and has been around since this year, it is still impressive by the simple fact that this is a novel and interactive shopping experience which will be able to show off content concerning a particular item on the screen.
For instance, you have already purchased a particular product and found it useful, and would like to leave a comment on the product’s website to say that this is a cool device – go and get it now!, accompanied by a 4 star rating. The WallSHOP will pick such a comment up, and actually show it in a speech bubble beside the shop’s logo that sold that particular item, or the item’s page itself. It is a real-time display that will extend the amount of collaboration between publicly available digital signage with that of mobile devices, taking on a social outlook along the way.
Makes perfect sense to us – after all, how many of us go check up on an online review concerning a particular device or item before actually making a purchase?
