Recently the topic came up again during the Paris Games Week in which Sony Worldwide boss Shuhei Yoshida reaffirmed that there would not be backwards compatibility for the PS3. We suppose we shouldn’t really be that surprised, but just in case you were holding out for the chance that Sony would have a change of heart, you might be disappointed.
To be fair, Sony had recently sent out a survey to its PS4 customers in which they asked them what features they would like to see. In the survey there was mention of PS1 and PS2 classics, which has led to speculation that Sony might be interested in getting some of these older titles playable on the PS4.
However instead of being backwards compatible, chances are Sony might use PlayStation Now as the platform to stream these games, which is currently what they are doing for certain PS3 titles. In any case are you disappointed that there will not be backwards compatibility?
