If you’ve always felt that one of the features that was missing from Google’s Play Music streaming service was podcasts, you might be in luck because if you are an Android user or someone who subscribes to Google Play Music, it looks like podcasts are finally headed your way.
Google has announced via the Official Android Blog that they will be introducing podcasts to Play Music. This will be a platform in which podcasters can start uploading their shows onto Play Music so that listeners will be able to access them and listen to them. Interestingly enough Google will be approaching these podcasts like their music playlists by making them contextual.
What this means is that depending on how you feel or what the situation is, you should be able to find a podcast that caters to you. So if you’re feeling down and you’re in need of a good laugh, you should be able to find yourself some humorous podcasts to cheer you up. Or if you wanted something intellectual to think about, there should be something for you as well.
That being said, the service has yet to be launched but in the meantime, Google is inviting podcasters in the US to submit their content in preparation for its launch. The company also notes that they are working with more than a dozen popular podcasters too, so hopefully at launch there will be a wide selection for users to choose from.
