A couple of weeks ago we reported that there was a handset from OnePlus possibly called the OnePlus X that was due for a launch in October. As it turns out, the rumors weren’t that far off the mark. According to OnePlus CEO Liu Zuohu, he posted an image on Weibo which you can see in the screenshot to the right.
As you can see, the image shows a map and lines that clearly mark an “X”. According to the translation, the “X” name is mentioned too although the translation does seem a little off and doesn’t really make sense, at least not in English. As to when the phone will be launched? There is a good chance we might see it come October 12.
Along with the teaser image, OnePlus has recently sent out invites to a launch event that will be held in India on the 12th of October. Coincidentally enough, OnePlus announced plans to open sales of the OnePlus 2 on that day as well. That being said, with the event being held in India, we have to wonder if the OnePlus X could be an India-only device, but we suppose we’ll just have to wait and see.
In the meantime according to the rumors, the OnePlus X is said to feature a 5-inch display with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801, which is pretty much all we know now, so do check back with us next Monday for the details.
