Speaking with TechRadar, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei revealed that the company almost launched a wearable and a Bluetooth speaker, but apparently they decided that maybe it wasn’t such a good idea to branch out so quickly and that they should probably concentrate on their mobile devices first.
According to Pei, “We asked ourselves, what is the goal? We decided we needed to focus on smartphones, to ensure we’re launching quality products and leave the wearables and speakers to the people who know what they’re doing.” So does that mean there will be no OnePlus wearable in the future?
For now that does seem to be the case. The company is expected to focus on their mobile products by releasing two phones a year: a flagship handset filled to the brim with high-end hardware, and the X-series which will focus more on the design side of things. We suppose for now it does seem like a good idea, but how do you guys think OnePlus would have fared if they had launched a wearable, especially in today’s competitive market?
