A report from a couple of days ago suggested that we could learn more about Nintendo’s first mobile game later this week. Turns out that the rumors were right on the money. According to a report from The Wall Street Journal, the publication quotes the company’s CEO Tatsumi Kimishima as saying that details will be shared tomorrow.
According to Kimishima, “We will provide updates on our project with DeNA tomorrow.” Unfortunately it is unclear as to what those updates might be, but hopefully we will be treated to a title, or if we’re really lucky we might even see a launch. However based on the way Kimishima’s statement was phrased, chances are a launch will not be happening.
Earlier this year, Nintendo confirmed that they will be entering the mobile industry by creating games for mobile devices. Prior to this, the company had notoriously refused to create games for smartphones, believing that gamers will ultimately choose the console at the end of the day, but 2015 saw Nintendo singing a completely different tune.
The company will be teaming up with DeNA to produce their mobile games, but take note that these games aren’t going to mobile versions of existing titles. Instead they will be completely new games that might be based on Nintendo franchises, which we guess isn’t a bad thing either, but do check back with us tomorrow for the details if there are any to be had.
