Lumia 950 XL VS Lumia 1520 Camera Samples

Despite the Nokia Lumia 1520 having been released 2 years ago, it features a massive 20MP rear-facing camera that many handset OEMs have yet to catch up to even today. However fast forward to 2015, Microsoft released the Lumia 950 XL which also features a 20MP camera, so the question is how will the Lumia 950 XL stack up against the Lumia 1520?

Thanks to a thread on Reddit created by guyman101, he has basically taken photos with both devices and compared them side by side. According to him, “The 1520 is still a beast, don’t get me wrong, but after comparing the pictures I took with it to those that came out of the 950XL, I have to say that it is night and day! I was already sold on the 950 XL, but the pictures I saw comforted me in my position. My girlfriend and I pre-ordered 2 units without hesitation.”

As you can see in the comparison photo above, the image to the left is the Lumia 1520 and the one to the right is the Lumia 950 XL. It might be a bit hard to tell because of the resized image, but if you were to look closely, the Lumia 950 XL has a brighter and sharper image. The front-facing camera is even more telling.

With the Lumia 1520, the white balance seems to make the photo “colder” and provides a blue tinge to it, while the Lumia 950 XL is warmer and has a yellow and slightly more saturated look.
