If you want to hook your home up with multi-room speakers but don’t want to spend a fortune on purchasing high-end audio equipment, you might be interested in Libratone who has recently announced new Zipp speakers. These new speakers will feature multi-room support, essentially seeing the company potentially muscling in on Sonos’ territory.
These speakers come in the form of the Zipp and the Zipp Mini. The former will offer 100W of sound, while the latter will offer 60W and as its name implies, it will be the more portable of the two, although in reality we reckon it shouldn’t be an issue moving these speakers around if you have absolutely have to.
Both speakers will feature WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, thus allowing users to connect to them wirelessly. They will also support streaming from Spotify and Apple Music, and will also be able to store up to five internet radio stations that can be played directly from the speakers, so fussing around with media device will not be necessary.
The speakers will come with a new touch interface, 360-degree FullRoom Sound, speakerphone capabilities, and according to the company, they are claiming that these speakers should last about 8-10 hours, although we suppose your mileage might vary depending on how you use them. The speakers are priced at $300 for the Zipp and $250 for the Zipp Mini and will be available starting October 22.
