Why Sony? Simply for the fact that the Leica SL is not only a mirrorless, but a full-frame mirrorless camera at that. As it stands, Sony is probably one of the few (if not only) company with full-frame mirrorless cameras, such as their A7-series. So what can we expect from the Leica SL?
For starters in the megapixel department, it is no slouch as it comes with a 24MP full-frame sensor. There is also the ability to shoot in 4K video, a 4.4MP EVF, 11fps burst mode, and will also support dual SD cards. It also comes with the Eyeres viewfinder which apparently lets you see what the final photo will look like even before you snap the picture.
This lets you compose your images and know the final result, thus saving you from having to keep checking your photos afterwards. The camera itself is built from solid aluminum and will be water and dust resistant, so light splashes should not ruin your expensive new toy. The camera will play nicely with Leica’s new L-series of lenses, but it is also expected to be compatible with Leica’s other lenses as well, just that in some cases you might need an adapter.
The Leica SL will be priced at a whopping $7,450 and is expected to go on sale on the 16th of November.
