Kyocera Torque G02 Can Survive Seawater As Well

[CEATEC 2015] A smartphone that can survive being underwater is nothing new or worth shouting about these days – even when companies like Sony clarified their waterproof guidelines. Well, Kyocera, being a name where rugged handsets have always had a close affinity with, plays no such word games – and pushes the existing boundaries even further this time around with the parading of their Kyocera Torque G02 smartphone which was announced earlier this May.

Touted to be the first smartphone in the world with resistance against seawater, you can basically make use of it even when you go snorkelling – or diving, if you are not going to head down too deep. Being available via KDDI in Japan, the Torque G02 will arrive in green, red and black color variations. It has also been certified to the United States Military Standard (MIL-STD-810G) in 19 categories, apart from Kyocera’s very own standard in a couple of categories.

Basically, it can see action in seawater and the phone’s camera can also be used underwater, where it will come packed with sensor-based apps that are handy for ocean or mountain settings, meaning it works great for those who happen to be involved in a whole lot of outdoor activities to boot. It does not seem as though the Torque G02 is going to be released anywhere else outside of Japan, which is a pity, really, considering the kind of potential that it has in other countries where folks spend plenty of time outdoors.
