Japan’s Vending Machines Will Help You Snap Selfies

kirin selfie machineSo we have phones and cameras dedicated to taking selfies, we have accessories and gadgets that help us take selfies like selfie sticks, and now it seems that over in Japan, they have introduced vending machines that can help users take a bunch of selfies as well, and share those selfies via the Line messaging app.

This machines are by Kirin, a beverage company from Japan whose Kirin beer might be familiar to some of you guys. The machine will be made in collaboration with the messaging app Line. When a photo is taken, users will be able to decorate it with special frames and backgrounds and effects that are exclusive to the machine.

Those selfies can then be shared. We suppose technically it isn’t really a selfie so the machine is taking your photo, as opposed to you using your own camera, but we guess with the popularity of selfies these days, no doubt it will be a popular feature albeit a novelty one. After all in Japan you can still find plenty of photo sticker booths, so a vending machine that takes photos of you when you buy your drinks? Why not?

The machines are expected to begin rolling out in Japan this month and will be available in a variety of languages, so if you happen to be in the country and want to experience some novelty technology, you might want to keep an eye out for them.
