There has been a lot of speculation about who will take over as Twitter CEO following the resignation of Dick Costolo earlier this year in June. At that time Twitter co-founder and Square CEO Jack Dorsey was brought back to the company in order to serve as interim CEO while the search began for candidates deemed suitable for the top job. Turns out it won’t be going to an outsider after all, Jack Dorsey has now been confirmed as the permanent CEO of Twitter.
It’s not like nobody saw this coming, soon after Dorsey took over as interim CEO it was rumored multiple times that gradually he will take over as permanent CEO. As for his job at Square, he’s going to retain that as well, he’ll lead two companies at the same time.
Jack Dorsey confirmed the news over Twitter, very apt I must add, he also revealed that the company is working to change the composition of its Board, and that he has been CEO of both companies for over three months now and has “the smartest, strongest, and most determined leaders in the world on my teams.”
As for how much Dorsey will be paid to lead Twitter: nothing. The company’s SEC filing reveals that Dorsey will not get any direct compensation for being CEO of Twitter and currently the company no plans of providing him any compensation for the time being.
