One of the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus’ initial markets is Japan, but according to a report from DigiTimes, sales in Japan this year weren’t as good compared to last year when the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus were launched. According to the estimates, it has been suggested that iPhone 6s and 6s Plus sales in Japan were anywhere between 10-15% weaker compared to last year.
Even local carrier NTT DOCOMO claimed that while they were experiencing strong sales, the popularity of the phone and the number of people lining up outside their stores was not as strong compared to last year. This suggests that while they have no issue moving units, the hype surrounding the iPhones might have died down a bit given the maturity of the market.
That being said, the official numbers from Japan have yet to be released. It has been suggested that analysts and research firms will still accounting for them this month, but what do you guys think? Any reason why the iPhone 6s/6s Plus might not be doing as well as its predecessor?
