It is also Apple’s most expensive tablet to date. The iPad Pro is priced starting at $799 for the 32GB model, putting that several hundred dollars ahead of the other iPads. This is why we’re not surprised to learn that Apple is being conservative with the iPad Pro orders from their suppliers.
This is according to a report from DigiTimes who claims that Apple has placed less than 2.5 million orders with their suppliers for the iPad Pro. Apparently its high price point has led Apple to be conservative in their estimates since they don’t expect many would be rushing out to get it unlike the iPhones and other iPad models as it is basically an unproven device for now.
The report goes on to claim that Q1 2016 might see even less orders, although this will largely depend on how well the tablet does in the holiday season. This seems to corroborate earlier claims that Apple was playing it safe with the upcoming tablet. That being said, we do have to say that 2.5 million iPad Pros sold in a span of 2 months would be pretty impressive, but we suppose from an investor’s point of view, it should/could be higher.
