An invite from HTC late last month revealed that the company would be launching a new device on the 20th of October. The company was not specific as to what kind of device we might expect, but so far the speculation and rumors are claiming that we will most likely be treated to the HTC One A9.
That being said, the company has since posted a new video onto Twitter in which they teased that the next evolution of the One will be unveiled soon. So far HTC has been going with One M-series of naming schemes for their flagship phones. However with the HTC One A9, it looks like the company will be headed in a new direction.
Based on the efforts HTC appears to be putting into marketing the device, we could be looking at a high-end handset, although the rumored specs aren’t standing out too much at the moment. For starters the HTC One A9 is said to come with a 5-inch Full HD display. Given that most flagships these days sport at least QHD resolutions, the choice to go Full HD is disappointing.
Under the hood, it has been suggested that a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 chipset can be found. However previously we had also heard that a deca-core MediaTek Helio X20 chipset will be powering the phone, so we guess it remains to be seen. The phone is also rumored to come with 2GB of RAM, a 13MP rear-facing camera, a metal build, and a 2,150mAh battery.
Take all of this with a grain of salt for now, but check back with next Tuesday for the official details.
