Google has recently issued an update to Google Drive for iOS. With the latest update, iOS users can now choose to back up their photos and videos onto Google Drive instead of Google Photos. We suppose the former would be a more private version if that’s what you’re after. The option to use Google Drive as a back up can be enabled as an extension in the share sheet for iOS.
Prior to this, users could upload to Google Drive but it would be a more long-winded process, hopefully this will speed things up a bit, especially if from time to time you browse your photo library to try and trim the fat. This might come in handy if you have bought a ton of Google Drive space and you’re looking to take advantage of it.
Like we said, Google Photos offers unlimited storage only if you keep your photos below a certain resolution, but if you’d rather not compress your images and you have plenty of Google Drive space handy, why not? If you’d like to get your hands on the updated version of Google Drive, hit up the iTunes App Store for the free download.
