Just last week Garmin unveiled a trio of fitness trackers aimed at runners. Only one out the three devices announced had a built-in heart rate monitor, while the other two required users to purchase a separate device. That being said if neither of the three devices caught your attention, fret not as Garmin has you covered.
The company has recently announced a new fitness tracker called the Vivosmart HR. This fitness tracker has a built-in heart rate monitor so if you’d rather not wear a chest strap to monitor your heart rate, then this could be worth checking out. Like most fitness trackers, the Vivosmart HR will be able to calculate the number of stairs you climb, activity intensity, calories, distance traveled, heart rate, and will also track your sleep.
However unlike some of the company’s previous heart rate monitors that uses Mio’s technology, the Vivosmart HR will be using Garmin’s in-house sensor. Whether or not this will be more accurate than Mio remains to be seen, but it should be worth taking note of in case you do decide to get the device.
Garmin claims that the Vivosmart HR will be water-resistant up to 50m and will last you a good 5 days on a single charge. The Garmin Vivosmart HR will be priced at $150 and will be released in the US on the 1st of November with pre-orders kicking off today.
