Starting with the Forerunner 230 and 235, essentially at the end of the day both devices are the same. However the main difference is that the Forerunner 235 comes with a built-in heart rate monitor, while the Forerunner 230 doesn’t. That being said, the Forerunner 230 can still track heart rate, although it will require a separate monitor in the form of an ANT+ chest strap.
Both devices will collect and track the same kind of data and will play nicely with the Connect IQ smartwatch platform, introducing new watch faces, apps, widgets, and more. The Forerunner 235 has been estimated to last 11 hours on a single charge, while the Forerunner 230 will last longer at 16 hours, presumably because of the lack of a heart rate monitor.
The Forerunner 630 will not come with a heart rate monitor built into it like the Forerunner 235. Instead users will need the separate ANT+ chest strap. The Forerunner 230 with the ANT+ chest strap is priced at $299, while the Forerunner is priced at $329. The Forerunner 630 will be more expensive and is priced at $399.
