Facebook Search gets a lot more powerful today, the world’s largest social network has announced that it’s revamping this feature which sees close to 1.5 billion searches per day. Search FYI is going to cover more than 2 trillion posts in Facebook’s index so that users can see how people in their networks are reacting to a recent development and if it’s some big news, how the rest of the world is reacting on Facebook.
For many Twitter is the go-to online destination to catch up on breaking news, it’s a widely used tool for that purpose, but this new initiative from Facebook is going to steal Twitter’s thunder. It makes it much easier for users to see how the world is reacting to an event, all they have to do is search for it.
The Search FYI feature will provide improved search suggestions, start typing in the search box and you’ll see timely, personalized suggestions, and as you type Facebook will highlight things happening right now so that you can follow popular stories as they unfold.
Search results will pull in public posts and posts from friends as well as public posts by all Facebook users. This also allows users to actively participate in conversations and take part in discussions on something that’s widely being shared across Facebook. The improved search feature is rolling out today in U.S. English for iPhone, Android and desktop users.
