EA logoIn the recent years we have started see more developers and publishers push out HD remakes of their older games. Is this a bad thing? Not necessarily since some gamers would no doubt love to revisit older titles and play them with updated graphics that don’t look as dated as it used to be.

However if you’re expecting EA to jump on the remake bandwagon, you might be disappointed because it seems that the company has no interest in doing so. In an interview with IGN, EA’s COO Peter Moore revealed the reason why the company has no interest on pushing out HD remakes of older titles, despite it starting to become the trend.

Moore was quoted as saying, “Remakes, because of who we are, and this broad portfolio of intellectual property…you add all that together, I don’t know where we find the time to do remakes…we’re a company that just likes to push forward.” However he does not fault companies for doing so either.

According to Moore, he acknowledges that remakes are a great way to drive revenue, even though it might not necessarily be the direction that EA wants to take. “For a lot of companies, remakes are a great way to drive revenue. It’s sub-cost, it’s an IP that’s there, you can remaster, and that’s great.”
