Dentsu Sciencejam Could Help Out Caregivers & Medical Personnel

[CEATEC 2015] If you have not heard of Dentsu Sciencejam before, perhaps knowing that they are the company behind these mind controlled wearable cat ears known as the Necomimi will ring a bell. Well, the company is certainly knee deep in technology that taps into one’s neural activity in order to bring something different to the table. As we all very well know, taking care of the infirm and elderly can be quite a daunting task, especially when you do not have the necessary know-how, so why not let technology help?

Those who are suffering from dementia or ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis – although Lou Gehrig’s disease seems to be the more popular name by which it is known as) can be rather challenging to care for, as communication between the caregiver and the patient is more often than not just one way. After all, some of the patients in a more severe state of the disease are unable to respond even if they wanted to, making it a whole lot of second guessing that is going on.

Perhaps wearing this neural headband on the head of the patient might help out caregivers in the long run – as it will be able to show off certain base “moods” of the patient, as to whether he or she is sleeping, is feeling content and comfortable, or might require some intervention – all of it shows up on the app that is installed on a compatible tablet or smartphone. While it might not be 100% accurate to determine how a patient is feeling at the moment, at least it does its bit to alleviate some burden off from the patient’s caregivers.
