Demo Lumia 950 XL Units Recalled From Microsoft Stores

If you thought that you could make your way down to the nearest Microsoft Store in order to check out the AT&T exclusive Lumia 950 XL, then you might be out of luck. Apparently, the folks over at Microsoft are currently experiencing some kind of hardware issues with its Lumia 950 XL prototype units, and hence, the logical thing to do would be to withdraw all of the Lumia 950 XL demo units out there in order to get them looked at and fixed where necessary before being released back to the wild. Last week’s Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL phones announcements generated huge interest. We made some prototype devices available for a limited time in our retail stores, so that customers could get an early look at our best Windows experience with Windows 10, on our most productive smartphones ever. We’ve now removed the prototypes from the stores as we finalize the experience, and look forward to rolling the phones out next month.

It seems that the issue would be hardware related, otherwise the physical device itself would have remained in stores while a software update was applied or worked on in the mean time. Could it also be attributed to the overheating issues associated with the Snapdragon 810 chipset? All of these are but speculation at the moment,
